DESCRIPTION:November DCLXtra with Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society\n\n\n\n\nDrew Nugent is a jazz musician and composer from Philadelphia\, Pennsylvania. His primary instruments are piano\, trumpet\, voice\, and\, believe it or not\, the tea kettle! Nugent and the band specialize in playing in the traditional “hot” jazz style of the 1920s. His band\, known as the Midnight Society\, is regarded as one of the best in the business and has been together for over 10 years. \n\n\n\nUnder Drew’s leadership\, they bring forth an authentic\, yet original approach to an art form over 100 years old. Nugent’s inspiration comes from a who’s who list of great performers\, composers\, and musicians\, both obscure and known\, going back a full century.  \n\n\n\nAlthough a lot of this music may seem forgotten in many circles\, it is alive and well with Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for the DCLXtra\n\n\n\n      \n        \n      \n    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDCLX could not happen without the help of our volunteers. Arrangements are direct transcriptions and stock selections that would have been played back in the day by bands across the country.  \n\n\n\nAdding to the period feel\, the rhythm section boasts calfskin drums arranged in a manner much like Krupa’s\, gut wound bass string\, acoustic rhythm guitar on a vintage Gibson L7\, and stride piano solos. The musicianship is of the highest caliber. Bandleader Craig Gildner handpicked each and every section from DC’s pool of talented musicians.
